Goldfinch (framed)

This is a delightful study of a European Goldfinch. A small complex oil painting on a standard edged, square canvas, with a backdrop of an old wooden door. It is like a tiny jewel in deep red and viridian green and browns, Inspired by the book written by Donna Tartt, (who is an American author and one of my favourite writers), who wrote The Goldfinch. This is a story about a fine oil painting of The Goldfinch, painted by Dutch painter Carel Fabritius. The painting is stolen from an art gallery by a young boy after a bombing.

I wanted to create an antique style to this painting with its complex background. It would look lovely set in a square gold frame and hung on dark wood panelling, or purchased as a set (see the other finches in the series) displayed on a gallery wall in your home. It would also look good as an individual piece in a prominent corner. Prints are available in larger sizes, if you would prefer a bigger piece.
